meet our team

Balus Aero is a company that intends to honor the Lord Jesus in everything we do. This mindset drives us to serve our customers well and treat them how we would like to be treated. This has created a loyalty from our customers that has developed into long term relationships, and in many cases, friendships that we hold very dear.

Scott Starick

President

Scott Starick's aviation journey began over 35 years ago in Australia, where he started as an apprentice Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) for a mission organization. After earning his Australian Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (LAME) certification, Scott moved to the USA, where he quickly obtained his Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license. His passion for electronics led him into the aircraft avionics field, where he further developed his skills as an A&P mechanic.

Recognizing a need for custom design packages, Scott taught himself AutoCAD, which opened the door to design work. This experience eventually led him to transition into engineering, where he expanded his knowledge to include certification processes. Over time, he earned an FAA delegation as a Designated Engineering Representative (DER) for Electrical Systems, including System Safety, and later received a special delegation as a Management DER.

Scott's hands-on experience with aircraft and his engineering expertise have positioned Balus Aero to effectively guide customers through product certification and aircraft return-to-service. With nearly two decades in engineering and business management, Scott has served as the president of Heron Aero Solutions LLC, now Balus Aero, for the past four years.

Honoring the company's LEgacy

Dan Morris, one of the founding partners of Balus Aero, played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s foundation as Heron Aero Solutions, LLC. With a wealth of experience in engineering, certification, business, and marketing, Dan helped lay the groundwork on which Balus Aero continues to thrive. Though he retired over four years ago, his contributions remain integral to the company’s ongoing success.

I, Scott, would like to express my deepest gratitude to Dan for the years of friendship and mentorship that has spanned over 20 years. I and the company would not be where it is today if you had not been such a generous person to pour your time, knowledge, and experience on someone that had nothing to show on paper but had a passion for aviation and a desire to expand and grow. May you continue to enjoy your retirement doing the things you love to do.  -Scott Starick
